The art I make often exists in digital form, black and white wall art or a large painted mural. I wanted to create in a different medium, something more accessible to everyone that wasn't just another print. Something that could covey the crisp, bright and graphic nature of my work and look really unique.
And so I bought my own industrial vinyl cutter and started translating my artwork into multi-colour pieces on Perspex acrylic sheets. The results were better than I could have hoped for - high quality, bright, eye-catching, tactile pieces that really change the space they're in whilst still capturing the Mister Phil chaos and energy.
Each layer is cut from high-quality vinyl and weeded by hand — a meticulous process that removes all the unwanted pieces and ensures a perfect finish. The layers are then carefully aligned and applied to the chosen surface. The first layer acts as a guide for the others, but to ensure perfect alignment the subsequent sections are broken down in to smaller areas and applied individually.
Perspex acrylic pieces come with pre-drilled holes and stand-offs so they sit proud from the wall, while art card works can be supplied unframed or framed to suit your space. The Perspex can come without holes if preferred. The result is clean, vibrant, tactile artwork, finished with precise attention to detail.
